Laurie Austin is the Audiovisual Archivist for the Harry S. Truman Library. She has a BA in History from the College of William and Mary and an MA in History/Public History from Northeastern University. Her career in the Presidential Libraries system started at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston, MA, where she started first as an intern before becoming a full-time archivist in 2004. As one of several audiovisual archivists at the Kennedy Library, Laurie's work was mostly focused on connecting researchers to audiovisual materials. She has assisted in with requests ranging from Mad Men to X-Men; student research papers to published biographies; and news media segments to extensive documentaries. Making the move to the Truman Library in 2018, she is the only audiovisual archivist on staff and devotes her time in equal measure to accessioning, arrangement and description, preservation, and reference.
